Dryden girls wrap up crown
LANSING – Led by triple individual
event winner Mackenzie Todd, Dryden High’s girls’ track team locked up
the Interscholastic Athletic Conference North Large School Division
dual-meet crown Monday.
The Purple Lion ladies defeated Trumansburg 97-39 and host Lansing 87-53 to secure the regular season crown.
On the boys’ side, Trumansburg topped Dryden 102-36 while Lansing nipped Dryden 67-66. Trumansburg won the division title.
Groton and Marathon joined non-league opponent Cincinnatus in IAC action at Whitney Point. The host Golden Eagles boys downed Groton 53-39, Marathon beat Whitney Point 60-37 and Groton clipped Marathon 56-53.
In the girls’ meet Whitney Point defeated Groton 80-47 and Marathon 92-24 while Groton downed Marathon 47-40.
AT LANSING, Todd won the 100-meter hurdles in 16.7 seconds before heading to her field events. She won the long jump with a leap of 16 feet and the triple jump with a distance of 30-9.5. Todd picked up a fourth win with the 400m relay team (52.7) of Danielle Wojcik, Rachel Wojcik and Abbey Yatsko.
Yatsko scored her own wins in the 100m dash (12.5) and 400m (1:02.7).
Rachel Hutchinson won the 1,500-meter run in 5:07.3 and later captured the 800m in 2:33 flat. She also anchored the winning 3,200m relay team (10:37.7) that included Hannah Wildenstein, Anne McConnell and Kerry Mullins.
Shaina Sullivan scored the final Purple Lion win in the high jump. Sullivan cleared the bar at 4-8.
“The girls continue to perform at a high level as winning the division title was the first team goal to achieve,” Dryden coach Lee Stuttle said.
For the boys, Will Holt scored two of the three Dryden wins. Holt took first in the 110m hurdles (15.5) and 400m hurdles (59.8).
Bryan Norman scored the other Purple Lion win with a leap of 16-11 in the long jump.
