Busy Week for Dryden Athletics

Mr. Boettger was busy Tweeting from several events the past few days.  (see photo) . The JV girls Basketball Team won the Trumansburg Tournament and the Varsity Girls won the consolation game.

The Boys Varsity Hoops team lost a tough one by 3 to Marathon in the opening round of the Cortland Holiday Tourney.  They followed that up with a win by 3 over Homer the next night.  The JV's lost to their nemesis Marathon in the opening round by 9.  I have a good feeling about the re-match in 12 days. (photos from Marathon) The second day brought Homer.  They lost by 2 to a good team.  Dryden had a chance to tie at the buzzer.  (photos from Homer, :-) those really are our guys in Cortland Jerseys :-) )

JV's learn from slow start - Control Game from the Start

The Lions converted for a layup on the opening tip and never looked back.  Combining a ferocious press and unselfish offensive play, the junior Lions continued the intensity that helped them win by 10 in overtime versus Lansing on Tuesday.

JV Boys fight back to force OT - Win by 10

The JV boys basketball team started slow Tuesday evening.  Finding themselves down by 14 points a one time in the second half.  They took took a 2 point lead with under a minute left.  Lansing called timeout and got the equalizer basket moments later.  A last second attempt by the junior Lions fell short as the 4th quarter ended.

After winning the tip, Dryden got a quick layup and never looked back.  They used free throws at the end of the extra period to seal the win.  Outscoring Lansing 14-4 in the final 4 minutes.

Both teams play Groton tonight at home before heading into Christmas break.  The JV game starts at 6pm.  They will be back in action on Tuesday as they return to the Cortland Holiday Tournament.  Marathon (a re-scheduled league game) will be their first opponent and a good test for both teams.  Second round games will take place Wednesday.  Times TBA.

Varsity Boys Hoops Move to 3-1 / 2-0 in Division with win over Point

Last night the varsity boys basketball team won a close contest against Whitney Point and are now 3-1 / 2-0 in the Large School North Division.  The JV's are now 2-2 after a loss to Whitney Point.
The game was close through out with Point taking a double digit lead late.  A 4th quarter rally by the junior Lions just wasn't enough.

Why drydenlionsnet ?

The idea for an online blog for Dryden Sports started when I was trying to think of a way to keep friends and family members updated on our kids sporting events.  We were always visiting the Athletic Website for updates like game changes and scores but had to go else where for photos, weather, and local sporting event news coverage.  I thought a one stop place where we could follow Mr. Boettger's Tweets , find the link to 1160espn.com's local sports page, or to find the latest amateur or professional photos of the Dryden Lions.
