VARSITY BOYS BASEBALL 4/19

Dryden improved to 3-1 in IAC play and 3-3 overall with a rain-shortened 12-3 win in 6 innings.  Junior Justen Geddes picked up his first varsity wins as he went 6 innings, allowing 3 earned runs on 4 hits, while striking out 12.  For Whitney Point, Jared Bieber got the loss as he went 4 innings, allowing 9 runs on 6 hits.  WP got on the board in the top of the first as Matt Driscoll reached on a 4-pitch walk.  Driscoll would steal second base.  After a strikeout, Chris Ellerson followed with an RBI single to make it 1-0.  Ellerson would steal second and score on a Tony Scalia 2-out RBI double to make it 2-0.  Dryden would answer with one run in the bottom of the first as sophomore Noah Welgoss led off the inning with a double down the left field line.  Welgoss would score an an RBI groundout by Derek Wilson to make it 2-1.  Dryden would take the lead in the bottom of the third as Hunter Senecal led off the inning with a double to left.  After a groundout allowed Senecal to move to third, Bruno Bugliosi reached on a wild pitch after swinging at strike three.  On the throw to first which was late, Senecal scored to make it 2-2.  Bugliosi would steal second and score on Derek Wilson's RBI single to make it 3-2.  Wilson would steal second an eventually score on an error to make it 4-2.  Dryden would score 6 times in the bottom of the fourth highlighted by Bruno Bugliosi's first varsity homerun, a 3-run shot over the left field fence.  "I was very please with out effort defensively today.  We turned our third 5-4-3 double play of the season, and Hunter Senecal made a great catch in left."  "We have to continue to make plays defensively, and throw strikes."  Dryden is at Notre dame tomorrow, noon start.
