Golfers Earn First IAC Divisional Crown since 2003

VARSITY GOLF
Monday Afternoon at Filmore Golf Course, the Dryden Purple Lions defeated the Moravia Blue Devils by a score of 208 to 305 and secured their first division title since 2003. Dryden (15-1) was led by senior Ryan Whitaker, who shot a career best 33 (2-under par).

The match brought back memories of Whitaker’s first varsity golf match, on April 12, 2010. That day at Filmore, Whitaker shot 40 and earned his first medalist honor. Yesterday, in Whitakers last match as a senior, he shot the best round of his high school career and earned his 18th medalist honor. Whitaker and Jonathan Becker will represent Dryden in the Section IV Individual medalist tournament at The RTJ Golf Course at Cornell Thursday May 16 and Saturday May 18 with hopes of being among the top9 players who will qualify for the State Tournament on June 2-3.

The Purple Lions will compete as a team in the Section IV Class C Championship at Maple Hill Golf Course on Monday May 20 and in the IAC Championship at Soaring Eagles Golf Course on Wednesday May 22.
