VARSITY BOYS BASEBALL
Dryden
improved to 8-5 overall and 8-2 in IAC play with a 14-1 win over
visiting Groton. For Dryden, John Whitmore picked up his second win on
the year as he went 6 innings, allowing 1 unearned run on 4 hits, while
striking out 12. For Groton, Zach Dedrickson got the loss. Groton
scored their lone unearned run in the top of the first as K. Brown led
off the inning with a hit and scored on a 2-out error. Dryden would
answer with three runs in the bottom
of the first as Noah Welgoss led off the inning and reach on a
hit-by-pitch. Both runners would advance on wild pitch. Welgoss would
score on an RBI groundout by Derek Wilson to make it 1-1. Brian Colbert
would reach on an error. Bugliosi would score on a wild pitch to make
it 2-1. Colbert would then score on a Justen Geddes RBI single to make
it 3-1. Dryden would open the game up in the second inning with 2 outs.
After the first two Dryden batters struck out, Noah Welgoss walked ans
stole second base. Welgoss would move to third on a wild pitch. Bruno
Bugliosi would follow with a walk to put runners in 1st and 3rd.
Bugliosi took 2nd base on a defensive indifference. Derek Wilson would
reach on an error allowing Welgoss and Bugliosi to score to make it
5-1. Wilson would steal second base. Brian Colbert would follow with a
walk to put runners on 1st and 2nd. A wild pitch allowed both runners
to advance. Alan Davis followed with a 3-run homerun to left-center to
make it
8-1. Dryden is at home Monday versus Union Springs.
