Baseball 8-0 over visiting Union Springs

VARSITY BOYS BASEBALL

Dryden improved to 9-2 in IAC play and 9-5 overall with an 8-0 win over visiting Union Springs.  For Dryden, Justen Geddes picked up the win, his third on the year, as he went the distance allowing one hit, a third inning two-out single, while walking one and striking out 7.  Geddes needed just 86 pitches for the complete-game victory.  Dryden got on the board in the bottom of the first as Noah Welgoss reached to lead off the inning with a hit-by-pitch.  Bruno Bugliosi would follow with a single to left to put runners on 1st and 2nd.  Derek Wilson followed with an RBI single to left, allowing Welgoss to score to make it 1-0.  Wilson would advance to second on the throw.  Brian Colbert would follow and reach on an error allowing Bugliosi to score to make it 2-0.  Wilson to third on the error.  Colbert would steal second to put runners on 2nd and 3rd.  After a strikeout, Justen Geddes followed with an RBI ground out allowing Wilson to score to make it 3-0 Dryden.  Dryden would add three more runs in the bottom of the fourth as Justen Geddes led off the inning with a single to center.  Geddes would steal second base.  After a strikeout, Drew Wojcinski would walk to put runners on 1st and 2nd.  An error on a pick-off allowed both Geddes and Wojcinski to advance a base.  Hunter Senecal followed with a 2-RBI single allowing Geddes and Wojcinski to score to make it 5-0.  Senecal would score on an error to make it 6-0.  Dryden would add two more runs in the bottom of the fifth as Justen Geddes scored on an error and John Whitmore scored on Drew Wojcinski's RBI double to make it 8-0.  "Justen threw very well for us tonight.  He threw hard and he threw strikes.  With three more games this week, Justen's complete-game performance allows to save an arm and be well-rested as we finsih out the week."
