Varsity Football vs. Bainbridge-Guilford 9/5/14

Dryden hosted Bainbridge-Guilford for a non-divisional game on Friday

night. Dryden opened the scoring with a 60 yard drive highlighted by a

32 yard run by halfback, senior Branden Decker. Branden also finished

the drive with a 14 yard td run. Conversion was good when Branden took

in an uncontested run out of the extra point formation.

The first quarter ended with the Lions up 22-0 behind the running of

Junior tailback Stuart Stahlman,   Sophmore QB Trevor Gardner and

Decker.  Stahlman ran one in on a beautiful 45 yard run with some

amazing downfield blocks.  The second quarter saw B-G defense stiffen as

well as their offense begin to run the inside fullback trap game with

great success. The second touchdown of the game was a pass from Gardner

to fellow sophmore, slot back Gavin Marsh.

      After a punishing ground game brought B-G to within 14 the Lions

ended the halftime scoring on a Gardner to Junior split end Matt

McHerron pass which saw McHerron weave in and out of the B-G secondary

for 45 yards and a prolific diving touchdown at the pylon.

      A few adjustments by the Lions staff solidified the middle of the

Dryden defense which then made it very difficult for B-G to run the

ball. Offensively, the Lions hit quick with touchdowns by Stahlman-6

yards and 15 yards. This lead us into the final period where senior

QB/SS Noah Welgoss and the Dryden defense took over. Welgoss scored on a

75 yard fumble recovery......the typical Scoop and Score! Then Noah

Welgoss followed up that with an 80 yard interception return. Final

score ended up Lions: 56, B-G: 8.
