The Dryden girls varsity swim team produced a strong effort
on Saturday, 9/20, at the 38th
annual Dr. Jack Thomas Invitational at Elmira Free Academy. The girls competed against 14 other schools
and finished fourth in Class B.
A second place medal was won by Erin Daley for the 50 Free
(26.41) and a fourth place medal was awarded to the 400 Free Relay team of Erin
Daley, Cassie Miller, Marita Miller, and Jainyn Wood (4:04.40).
Ribbons were also won in several events including 11th
place ribbons in the 100 Free (Cassie Miller; 1:01.93), and 100 Breast (Taylor
Cain: 1:18.70), 10th place ribbons for the 200 Free (Cassie Miller:
2:15.47), and 200 Free Relay (Cassie Miller, Taylor Cain, Miranda Seymour, and
Allison Morrow: 1:58.35), 8th place ribbons for the 200 Medley Relay
(Erin Daley, Taylor Cain, Jainyn Wood, Marita Miller: 2:04.48), and 500 Free
(Marita Miller: 5:50.66), and a 7th place ribbon in the 100 Back
(Erin Daley: 1:06.94).
Swimmers producing season’s best times were Veronica
Cator-Szymanski (100 Fly: 1:21.58), Jada Chaires (100 Breast: 1:33.31), Erin
Daley (50 Free: 26.41 – tie), Cassie Miller (200 Free: 2:15.47), Marita Miller
(200 IM: 2:33.50, 500 Free: 5:50.66), Allison Morrow (100 Free: 1:06.57), and
Hayley Tanner (50 Free: 40.34, 100 Free: 1:30.81). Marita’s time in the 500 Free was also a
personal best for her as a Dryden swimmer.
The girl’s next meet is Tuesday, September 23rd,
at home against Whitney Point. Go
