Boys Soccer Opens with Big win

Dryden 9, Groton 1 
Dryden boys' soccer earned their first win of the season with a 9-1 victory over Groton Tuesday night. Goals for Dryden were scored by Padraic Iannello (3), Jacob Lewis (2), Ryan Harding, Gabby Guisado, Bryan Iannello and Ali Abel-Ferretti. Guisado (3), Padraic Iannello (2), Lewis and Oleg Yuz'vak recorded assists.
Jacob Klump scored the lone Groton goal, and he was assisted by Tim Baxendell. Groton's goalie Lucus Goodwin recorded four saves, while Sean McDaniel had one.
"We started a bit slow, but we played better and better as the game went on," said Dryden head coach Laszlo Engel. "The starting group moved the ball well and made good adjustments as the game went on to make it better.  My younger guys did as we have been training and showed great
improvement. I like the direction we are going. We certainly still have much to work on, but this was a great start."
Dryden will play Marathon at home Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
