From the Coach:
VBB Dryden improved to 2-2 last
night with a 67-31 win over visiting Groton.
Sophomore Ali Abel-Ferretti led Dryden with 15 points and 10
rebounds. Senior Ross Cole added 12
points, while junior Noah Welgoss and freshman Trevor Gardner each added 9
points and 3 assists. Groton was led by
Matt Perkins who finished with 9 points.
Dryden took an early 19-4 lead after the first quarter. Abel-Ferretti with 8 in the quarter. "I thought our press forced the tempo
which allowed us some easy opportunities."
Groton would outscore Dryden 13-12 in the second quarter. "We went away from our press and seemed
to lose lots of momentum. Our effort
level needs to remain high no matter the defense we are in." Leading 31-17 at half, Dryden would outscore
Groton 19-6 in the third quarter. Cole
with 6 in the third quarter and Gardner with 5.
"The ceiling is high for this group. We are going to get better each and every
day, whether it be during a game or practice." Dryden JV's improved to 2-2 as they defeated
groton 57-37. Sophomore Kevin Ellis led
Dryden with 24 points. Dryden is at
Trumansburg Monday (change from the originally scheduled date of Tuesday), 6 pm
JV tip.
