Cortland 72, Dryden 46: On Saturday in the final of the Cortland Holiday Tournament, Sage Brown scored 21 points to lead the Purple Tigers (5-2) to victory in their own tourney over the Purple Lions (4-3).
Dryden advanced to the final by beating Marathon, 68-56, on Friday in the opening round. Six-foot-6 sophomore Ali Abel-Ferretti had career highs of 32 points and 21 rebounds to lead the Lions, who led by 13 at halftime but saw the Olympians cut the lead nearly in half with a strong third quarter.
Marathon would not get closer than six points, however, as Dryden pulled away in the fourth, led by Trevor Gardner, who had eight of his nine points in the period.
