From the Coach - Varsity Boys Basketball vs. Whitney Point.

VBB 12/10 - Last night Dryden fell to 1-2 on the season with a 62-56 home loss to Whitney Point.  Dryden was led by sophomore Ali Abel-Ferretti who posted his 2nd double-double of the season with 20 points and 11 rebounds.  Dryden also got 10 points a piece from sophomore Matt McHerron and freshman Trevor Gardner.  Gardner added 6 rebounds, while McHerron had 4.  Whitney Point was led by junior Zack Marsh who had 33 points.  Dryden and Whitney Point exchanged blows in the first quarter which would end deadlocked at 17.  Abel-Ferretti and Marsh each with 6 in the quarter.  Both teams would still be deadlocked at 31 after two quarters of play.  Marsh and Abel-Ferretti each had 9 points in the quarter.  Whitney Point would outscore Dryden 14-9 in the third quarter to take a 3 point lead.  Dryden would cut the lead to four late in the fourth quarter.  Trevor Gardner would get an open look at the top of the key, but his 3-point attempt did not connect.  Marsh would sink free throws to finish the game.  "I thought we played rather well tonight.  We need to do a better job of finishing opportunities in the paint.  "  "The Marsh kid is hands down the best player in this league.  He is a tough guard for us."
