Dryden Loses Close One (Ithaca Times)

Ithaca Times

Dryden fell to 9-8 overall with a 53-47 loss at Southern Cayuga.
Dryden was led by sophomore Ali Abel-Ferretti who finished with his ninth double-double on the season as he tallied 17 points and 15 rebounds.

Freshman Trevor Gardner finished with 12 points and five assists. Matt McHerron finished with a career-high 13 rebounds.
Dryden and Southern Cayuga were tied at 14 after one quarter.  Abel-Ferretti with six points in the quarter.  SC outscored Dryden 18-11 in the second quarter to take a 32-25 lead into the locker room at halftime.  Tom Miller with 14 points in the second quarter.
"We were not ready to play this morning," said head coach Kim Brown. "We did not push tempo in the first half, and we allowed too many easy catches for Southern Cayuga."
SC would take a 40-33 lead headed into the final quarter.
"Our tempo and effort was much better in the third quarter, however we were not able to cut the deficit," said Brown.
Dryden would cut the lead to four points with possession, but they could never get any closer.
"We had possession, but we took contested shots on both possessions," said Brown.  "Anytime you finish with 46 total rebounds, you typically win at the high school level, however when you shoot 28.6% from the field, you have to find other ways to win, and we were unable to do that."
