Dryden Boys Basketball drops tough one at Southern Cayuga - 12 Hours after big Waverly Win.

Dryden fell to 9-8 overall with a 53-47 loss at Southern cayuga.  Southern Cayuga was led by senior Tom Miller who finished with 31 points.  Dryden was led bu sophomore Ali Abel-Ferretti who finished with his 9th double-double on the season as he tallied 17 points and 15 rebounds.  Freshman Trevor Gardner finished with 12 points and 5 assists.  Matt McHerron finished with a career-high 13 rebounds.  Dryden and Southern Cayuga were tied at 14 after one quarter.  Abel-Ferretti with 6 points in the corner.  SC outscored Dryden 18-11 in the second quarter to take a 32-25 lead into the locker room at halftime.  Tom Miller with 14 points in the second quarter.  "We were not ready to play this morning.  We did not push tempo in the first half, and we allowed too many easy catches for Southern Cayuga.  SC would take a 40-33 lead headed into the final quarter.  "Our tempo and effort was much better in the third quarter, however we were not able to cut the deficit."  Dryden would cut the lead to 4 points with possession, but they could never get any closer.  "We had possession but we took contested shots on both possessions."  "Anytime you finish with 46 total rebounds, you typically win at the high school level, however when you shoot 20/70 (28.6%) from the field, you have to find other ways to win, and we were unable to do that."  Dryden JV's were 63-59 winners.  Kevin Ellis led Dryden with 21 points.  Dryden is at Johnson City Monday, 5:30 JV tip.
