LANSING — Shea McCartney scored a pair of
second-half goals and had an assist to lead Lansing to a 3-1 victory
over rival Dryden in Interscholastic Athletic Conference girls soccer
Thursday night at Sobus Field.
Reilly
Zajac also scored for Coach Eric Stickel’s Bobcats (8-0), while Jill
Austin collected an assist. Sarah Gisler had three saves for the
winners, who outshot Dryden, 9-4, and took all three of the game’s
corner kicks.
Britany
Deeley scored late in the first half for the Purple Lions, assisted by
Abigail Barr. Sophomore Taylor Bennett, who entered the game with 29
goals through eight games, was held scoreless for just the second time
this season.
Alissa
Patte made six saves for Coach Janine Bennett’s Purple Lions (7-2),
whose only two losses this season have come to undefeated teams. Dryden
lost at Section 3 power Marcellus, 5-0, earlier this month.
Dryden is scheduled to host Whitney Point at 11 a.m. Saturday; Lansing travels to Whitney Point on Monday.
