Eighth-grader Brittany Deeley’s first varsity goal proved to be the
winner as host Dryden defeated Whitney Point, 3-2, on Wednesday in
season-opening Interscholastic Athletic Conference girls soccer action.
Ashley
Tenkate gave the Purple Lions an early 1-0 lead, then all-state
sophomore Taylor Bennett scored late in the half to extend the lead to
2-0. Deeley’s winner came sandwiched in between a pair of unassisted
goals from Whitney Point’s Brittany Randall.
Abigail Barr and Amy DeGaetano had assists for the winners, who got six saves from eighth-grader Sarah Westcott.
Dryden hosts Southern Cayuga Friday.
