High School Basketball: Dryden boys surge into Southern Cayuga

Purple Lions have won 8 of 9 boys games

ITHACA — With the entire South division of Interscholastic Athletic Conference basketball having Tuesday night off, just four boys and four girls games are on the docket, crossover games between North Large and North Small schools.
The Dryden boys (9-4) will look to continue their recent hot streak when they travel to Poplar Ridge to take on Southern Cayuga (6-6).
Coach Kim Brown’s Purple Lions have won three straight and eight of nine since back-to-back losses to Lansing and Moravia, both of which are now state-ranked. Dryden’s only loss in its last nine was another loss to Lansing.
Dryden is coming off a 70-57 defeat of Marathon last Friday, in which Gage Ellis scored a varsity-high 26 points. Ali Abel-Ferretti chipped in 16 points and 12 rebounds, and Bryan Norman had 10 points for Dryden, which trailed by a point after one quarter.
Other games on the boys side include Whitney Point (11-2) at Marathon (5-8), Trumansburg (0-13) at 14th-ranked Moravia (10-2, already clinched Small North title) and 17th-ranked Lansing (10-2) at Union Springs (4-9). Lansing was scheduled to play Southern Cayuga on Monday evening.
On the girls side, Lansing (10-1) will look to extend its win streak to six games when it hosts Union Springs (4-8). Other matchups include Marathon (4-8) at Whitney Point (4-7), Moravia (8-3) at Trumansburg (3-7) and Southern Cayuga (5-7) at Dryden (2-9).
