WAVERLY — Dryden scored three goals in 4
1/2 minutes late in the first half en route to a 4-1 win over Waverly
here in crossover IAC boys soccer at Memorial Stadium.
"We are
inconsistent with our energy levels," said Waverly coach Tara Hogan.
"Sometimes we have a lot of energy going into the game and other times
we are dead on our feet.
"We started the game with low energy, she said. "There were a lot of poor decisions and weak defending."
Ali Abel-Ferretti opened the scoring with 14:22 left in the first half to give Dryden a 1-0 lead.
Jacob Lewis scored with 6:38 left in the half, followed by a goal by Padmec Iannello with 3:27 remaining to make it 3-0.
Lewis capped the scoring with 2:01 left in the half to push the lead to 4-0.
Callum Caplan, off an assist from Brenton Frisbie, put Waverly on the board about two minutes into the second half.
"We
had some momentum in the beginning of the second half after Callum
scored but we were unable to capitalize again," said Hogan.
Dryden outshot Waverly, 21-11, and had a 5-3 edge in corner kicks.
Cameron Rogers registered 10 saves in net for the Wolverines.
Waverly, now 6-7-1, is back in action Tuesday when it hosts Whitney Point.
