Dryden girls edge Lansing, clinch North Large title

Abigail Barr put home a corner kick in overtime to lift the undefeated Dryden girls soccer team past rival Lansing, 1-0, earning the Purple Lions a berth in the IAC Large School final.



The second-ranked Dryden girls’ soccer team completed a perfect regular season on Monday, outlasting rival Lansing, 1-0 in overtime, in a key Interscholastic Athletic Conference North Large Division game at Tompkins Cortland Community College.
Abigail Barr curled in a corner kick in the second extra period to lift the Purple Lions (14-0), who clinched the division title with the win and will play for the IAC Large School championship, back at TC3. Dryden will meet South Large champion Elmira Notre Dame (11-2-1) for the title at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, to be followed by the boys’ Large School final, featuring Lansing and Notre Dame.
Both keepers — Lansing’s Sarah Gisler and Dryden’s Sarah Westcott — made five saves on Monday. Dryden had an 8-5 edge in shots and Lansing had a 5-3 edge in corners.
