Bennett's end-to-end goal lifts Dryden girls to victory

All-state junior midfielder Taylor Bennett scored on an end-to-end rush with 12 minutes to play to give the state-ranked Dryden girls' soccer team a 1-0 victory over rival Lansing in Interscholastic Athletic Conference play on Monday night at Lansing.
Bennett took the ball approximately 80 yards from the Dryden defensive end, raced past several Bobcats defenders and put the ball past Lansing keeper Sarah Gisler. The Purple Lions (11-0) are ranked fourth in this week's state sportswriters Class B poll.
Dryden outshot Lansing, 11-6. Gisler made 11 saves for the home team, while Sarah Westcott stopped six for Dryden.
Lansing, the defending IAC Large School and Section 4 Class C champion, fell to 7-3 on the year. The Bobcats host Union Springs at 7 p.m. Wednesday; Dryden is off till Friday, when it hosts Trumansburg at 4:30 p.m.
