Varsity Boys Basketball Over Union Springs - Welgoss leads Dryden boys past Union Springs

IAC boys basketball

Dryden 61, Union Springs 32: Wednesday at Dryden, junior Noah Welgoss scored a career-high 14 points lead the Purple Lions (6-4, 4-3) past the Wolves (0-10, 0-9) in a Interscholastic Athletic Conference game.
Coming off a 48-44 nonleague victory Tuesday over Chenango Valley, Dryden came out slowly and led, 10-8, after one quarter. But Coach Kim Brown’s squad took the game over in the second with a 19-1 scoring edge to open up a 20-point halftime lead.
“We played with better speed and tempo during the second quarter,” Brown said. “Defensively we were more aggressive, and offensively we ran the floor much better and got easy looks.”
The Lions travel to Whitney Point on Friday.
