Adams Champ at 220 at IACs - Dryden finishes 10th

IAC Championships: On Saturday at Watkins Glen, Newark Valley won the team title with 210.5 points, topping a 15-team field that included runner-up Watkins Glen (186.5).
Lansing placed seventh with 83 points and had an individual champion in Jimmy Overhiser, who defeated Odessa-Montour's Joe Rorick, 16-6, in the 120-pound final.
Dryden was 10th and had a champion in Chad Adams at 220 pounds, and Groton took 11th and had a winner in Garrett Lockwood, who defeated Lansing's Hunter Oblinski, 11-3, to win the title at 113.

Dryden Earns 6th Win In Victory Over Lansing

Dryden improved to 6-4 overall and 5-2 in division play as they defeated host Lansing 69-40. Dryden was led by Ali Abel-Ferretti who finished with 14 points and seven rebounds. Stu Stahlman added 13 points and nine rebounds, while Anthony Nichols added 10 points and four rebounds. Trevor Gardner chipped in with seven points and eight assists.

Lansing was led by Zach Detrick who finished with 12 points.
Dryden took an 18-9 lead after the first quarter. Abel-Ferretti scored eight points in the quarter.
"This is the first game where we have led after the first quarter," said Dryden head coach Kim Brown. "We got some easy looks and were able to finish."
Dryden outscored Lansing 15-10 in the second quarter, taking a 33-19 lead into the locker room at half.
"We left some points on the floor in the second quarter," said Brown. "We continued to get easy looks, however we did not finish as well as we did in the first quarter."
Six different Dryden players scored a field goal in the second quarter.
Dryden outscored Lansing 15-13 in the third quarter to take a 48-32 lead into the final quarter.
"We changed our defensive approach tonight," said Brown. "We have some adjustments to make, however I think we have found something which may benefit us going forward."
Dryden is off until January 19th, where they will travel to Windsor for a 3 p.m. JV tip.

Dryden 69, Lansing 40: On Tuesday at Lansing, 6-6 junior Ali Abel-Ferretti had 14 points and seven rebounds to lead the Purple Lions (6-4, 5-2) past the Bobcats (4-5, 2-5).
Stu Stahlman added 13 points and nine boards for the winners, who led 18-9 after one quarter and 33-19 at halftime. Tuesday's game was the first this season that Dryden has led after one quarter, according to Coach Kim Brown.
Junior guard Zach Detrick led the Bobcats with 12 points, while 6-3 senior Logan Osterman and 6-5 sophomore Karsten Zuideman added eight points apiece.

Grunder nets 40 points, Trumansburg boys rally for win

Austin Grunder scored a season-high 40 points as the 19th-ranked Trumansburg boys’ basketball team rallied for a 65-60 victory over host Dryden in Interscholastic Athletic Conference play on Friday in Dryden.
Grunder, a 6-2 sophomore, made 16 field goals, including three from beyond the 3-point line, and added 5-for-6 foul shooting for the Blue Raiders (8-2, 5-1 IAC), who outscored the Purple Lions 23-13 in the fourth quarter. Grunder is averaging 31 points in his last three games for T-burg.
Luke Richards added nine points for the winners. Six-foot-6 junior Ali Abel-Ferretti scored 24 points to lead the Purple Lions (5-4, 4-2).

Dryden Lady Lions are 5-5 after second win over Trumansburg in 6 days and third win in a row

After playing 3 state ranked teams in their first 7 games and sitting at 2-5, the Lady Lions Basketball team has won 3 in a row to get back to .500.  In the first match-up with Trumansburg in the consolation game of their own Holiday Tourney Dryden needed overtime to get the win and to stop a 5 game losing streak.  6 days later and after a slow start on the road, the team pulled ahead in the first quarter and kept the lead throughout.
