Senior Abreham Kittel scored two second-half goals to equal the
Trumansburg career goal-scoring record and lead the Blue Raiders at
Dryden, 2-1, in Interscholastic Athletic Conference North Large Division
boys soccer action.
Kittel broke a
scoreless tie 10 minutes into the second half, on a feed from Jacob
Cozzarin, then gave the Blue Raiders (10-2) a two-goal lead off an
assist from Danny Lapp 17 minutes later. He stands at 57 goals, equaling
the mark set in 1981 by Barth Gardner. Kittel will have a chance to
break the record in T-burg’s next game, Wednesday night at No. 1-ranked
Lansing.
A minute
after Kittel’s second goal, Dryden (9-2) cut the deficit to one on a
goal by Timothy Lewis on a feed from Mike Harvey, but the home team
could not get the equalizer. The Blue Raiders had a slim edge in shots
(11-10) and the Purple Lions had the edge in corners (5-3).
Seamus
Henehan made six saves for Trumansburg, while Haile Cutter stopped five
shots for the Purple Lions, who will take on Union Springs at 4:30 p.m.
Saturday.
Newark Valley 3, Candor 2:

Cardinals. Philip Lindhorst and Chad Goodrich also scored for NV, while
Jake Van Scoy and Adam Nichols had the Candor goals. Micah Gorsline made
