We
went to States with eight kids and came back with 3 medals, not too
bad. Bryant jumped really well with only getting 3 jumps instead of the
usual 6 since there were no division finals. (Because of the rain out on
Friday only the top 8 overall D1 and D2 got 3 more jumps). His 44-11.75
was on his first jump, on his second he hit a huge jump but was ruled a
foul by 1/4" and on his third he jumped 44-6. I like the fact that he
is finally healthy and jumping without pain as we travel to Greensboro,
NC for the Outdoor National Meet this upcoming Friday.
Rachel ran a super race, just missed her own school record and got on
the State award stand for the first time. Rachel will go down as one of
the best Dryden distance runners in history as she owns 4 individual
school records and is part of 4 relay school records.
Megan
had a nice day, clearing 10-0 and almost clearing 10-6 on her last
attempt. This was her first State Meet experience and she handled it
very well.
On
a side note; locals Bryant Stuttle, Dryden, and Erica Carney, Newfield,
were named the Section 4 Sportsmanship Winners as voted on by the
Section 4 track coaches and coordinators. Bryant will continue to jump
and study at Cornell University this fall while Erica will be going to
Liberty University in Virginia.
